João Louro, exhibition

A question of visual symbolism.
Born in 1936, João Louro lives and works in Lisbon, where he studied architecture at the University of Lisbon and painting at the Arco School of Visual Arts in Madrid. Video and sculpture are two other methods he employs to convery his particular meaning to his audience. The artist questions visual symbolism in an age where we are bombarded with it.
João Louro was invited by Maria de Corral to exhibit his work at The Experience of Art at the Italian Pavillion of the 51st Venice Biennale and, outside of Lisbon, since 2004 has also exhibited his work in Porto, Los Angeles, Rome, Valencia, Lyon, San Diego and Tijuana.
